Hey there, I wanted to pick some more experienced brains than mine about something.
Multirack, or I guess Waves in general depending on the console, has become a pretty serious part of my workflow in the last year. I use the C4 (now C6) ALL the time to the point that I hate mixing without it and I have a few other plugs that I just really like the sound of.
That said, I can only use it when a venue has a console with a card like the Venice or X/M32 or when it's built into the Digico and Avid consoles I come across sometimes. I'd like to get to the point where I can ALWAYS have 8 channels of MR no matter where I am and have it be EASY to hook up so if I'm mixing at a festival or we aren't the headlining band I'm not being THAT guy but I can still get what I want. I'm thinking the easiest way to achieve that would be to treat MR like an outboard rack and make it insertable. If I were to get, say, an RME Fireface 802 (8X8 TRS on the back) can you see an environment where this wouldn't work? Would any of you house/festival guys get annoyed if I showed up with a rig like this? Most mid range consoles seem to have unbalanced inserts whereas only high end ones have balanced inserts, is that going to affect me?
